After several meetings our Sawn Height Battery Bluff Blend was chosen
for the gate-posts to match the existing building at the Ayr Cemetery.
I suggested that we should add some Red Sandstone, because there was
some in the existing building as well, which they were happy that we could do this.
We hand chiseled every piece to create extra bulge in the middle…
also to match existing. Then we tumbled it all to give an aged, worn appearance.
The (nearly 150 year old stonework) had a lot of weather staining,
requiring the need to add extra brown to the new blend so it would match better.
The 2 pictures below are the existing stonework that the committee
from Ayr Cemetery were trying to match.
