An overwidth load coming from our Quarry on Manitoulin
Island. As we got farther into our quarry the pieces got
heavier and we had to upgrade to a loader that would
lift 20 ton blocks.
Nice strong blocks help us make quality products. This is
a Domolitic Limestone and is from the Amabel Formation.
Above are the raw blocks from the quarry. Below are
several projects that were produced from the raw blocks.
The Waterfall above was built at the International Plowing
Match at Listowel, ON. We built the falls 72′ long, it had 4
streams of water, and a cave entrance at the back of the
falls, where you could come out behind a sheet of falling
water. Many people took advantage of being able to have
their picture taken, while standing behind the falling water.
The 1 piece stage in front of the pond was approximately
20′ long and was 7′ from front to back. This feature was
the talk of the Plowing Match. Mr. Wagler always dreamed
of building a cave behind a waterfall and enjoyed the
excitement of designing and building this unique feature
for thousands of people to enjoy. People were so impressed
that they are still talking about it today.
The Weatheredge Limestone was also put to many uses
in this Project.
(A) The radius steps were cut from one piece so the shape
of each step would match and the natural weathered faces
adds to the natural beauty of this amazing stone.
12′ lengths are amazing.
(B) The Weathered Face Armour Stone makes nice flowing
flower bed edges.
(C) The window sills are rock faced are 4″ height and look
nice with the chunky
(D) Sawn Height Building Stone which was tumbled.
(E) The Stone Lintels showcased the same stone with a
“Bush Hammered” surface. So many options with the same stone.
(F) The Flagstone is made of the Weatheredge Limestone as
well. Even the window wells were crafted of the same stone,
with the weathered face showing when you look out the
basement window.
This amazing “Cliffside Building” located in the Adirondack
Mountains was built with the “Weathered Face” exposed to
look like a “Natural Cliffside”. The window sills and lintels
also showcased the same Weathered Surface. We also
supplied Weathered Face steps and armour stone to match.
The Moongate (circle) was carved from the same
Weatheredge Limestone. Colonial also enjoyed making some
amazing “L-shaped” corners (which at 12′ length was not considered
possible by most people). Mr. Wager enjoys dreaming up and making
things that are a surprise to all. This project also has nice natural
stone bridges and a waterfall starting on top of the roof and flowing
down to the lower level. There is also matching flagstone
on the exterior and interior.
The Weatheredge Limestone Tumbled Olde Mill Blend looks
200 years old the day the project is completed.
Tumbling gives the stone a very aged, weatherworn appearance.
